UBC Day 31 - Completed Challenge

Written For:  The Letter C at ABC Wednesday

Finally it's day 31 of the  Ultimate Blogging Challenge. And with this post, I have completed the challenge.  Yay!

It's been fun but unfortunately I've neglected my other blogs and bloggers who deserve my attention because they've all dropped by and commented on my posts.

The weekend will be devoted to reading, commenting and replying to comments.

Call me crazy, but I signed up for the April ABC Challenge, so will have another month long carnival of blogging, reading, commenting, replying and great camaraderie.

But I shall end this challenge and post with a song ... Can't Help Falling in love. Why? because it start's with C and because I can!

UBC Day 30 - She Looked Most Beautiful

Day 30 Ultimate Blogging Challenge
Written for: The Write Tribe

She looked most beautiful
Like a golden sunset
Like a fragrant meadow
Like a graceful gazelle
Like a blooming rose
Like a gentle breeze
Like a swan gliding idly
Like a tranquil blue sea
Like a heartfelt melody
Like softly falling snow
Like an enchanting story
Like a glorious rainbow

She looked most beautiful
My mind was in turmoil
Radiant and irresistible
My soul was in joy
With her enchanting smile
My heart she did melt
And as I beheld her eyes
True bliss I felt

Some days ago I wrote a poem on Sita's view of Lord Rama. So I guess it's only fair that I do a post on Lord Rama's view of Sita. And this prompt was just perfect for that.

UBC Day 29 - Gratitude this week

Day 29 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Linking to: Alphabet Salad Gratitude List #14

Gratitude list for this week:

  • So thankful I could restore my laptop to a previous restore point. Came up with errors when I updated iTunes. Won't be doing that for a while!
  • Thankful that I've slept well each and every night this week. Really needed that - been very hectic at work
  • Thankful that the smoothie machine at the cafe at work has been fixed. I love smoothies.
  • Thankful that I've nearly completed this challenge - it's been fun but hard too and I've neglected so many blogs so will have to catch up over the next few weeks.

Have a great week.

UBC Day 28 - Songs that Speak

Day 28 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Do songs speak to you?

There are some songs that when played send me a distinct message

Whenever I hear "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel and I'm going for an interview, I know I won't get that job, but I know I'll get an offer from the next one.

Often when I'm trying to find the answer to something and can't seem to get anywhere, I hear the song "Let it Be" by The Beatles. Then I know it's time to let go, let the Universe do its work and that  ... there will be an answer.

And "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison... whenever I hear this song, I know it's a call from my sweet Lord to feel His presence. My post explains the detailed story behind this song. And I can truly feel His presence when I hear this song. It is such a sweet and blissful feeling.

So do songs speak to you? Share yours in the comments.

Have a blissful day.

UBC Day 26 - Balancing Life

Day 26 of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge is written for:

Write Tribe 100 Words on Saturday - She had the last laugh
Thursday Theme - Optimistic

No matter how hard she tried to interact, some ignored her. It troubled her. Had she done something wrong or said something she shouldn't have? It saddened her and dragged her down.

Then one day she had an epiphany. "All things in life must balance". Where one ignores, many others come through for you. Where you ignore be sure that you will be ignored.

And if all things must balance, then at some point, you need to both ignore and be ignored. Otherwise life would be too overwhelming.

The Universe watches and balances. And she always has the last laugh.

Life has taught me that all things balance. We cannot escape that as it is the law of the Universe.

When our time on Earth is over, the Balance Sheet of Life must be level. We will face difficulties and blessings, good times and hard times, sadness and joy, toil and relaxation, good health and illness. After all if there was too much rain, the Earth would drown and if there was too much sunshine, she would fry. The sum total of all our positive experiences equals the sum total of all our negative ones. All things must balance. I never take anything for granted any more.

If we learn to balance life by ourselves, the Universe applauds. If we don't, it makes that happen. The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh. However sometimes what we interpret as taketh is often a giveth or in other words a blessing in disguise. The reverse is also true.

When we finally get that, then we enjoy the positive times and when the negative times appear we face them knowing that life is balancing out.

When we live with the knowledge that at each moment, life is balancing out, then every moment in life can be viewed optimistically from an end of life view (expecting the best possible outcome from any given situation - Wikipedia).

Have a Blessed day.

UBC Day 25 - Best Compliment

Day 25 - Ultimate Blogging Challenge.

Written For:
Write Tribe National Compliment's Day - Best Compliment  and
The Letter B at ABC Wednesday

January 24 was National Compliment's Day and I didn't know that until Kajal (Rainbow Hues) posted on her blog and paid me a truly lovely compliment.

But it really does not matter what day it is, it's always nice to give and receive a compliment.

When you give a compliment sincerely it gives the giver great joy. That it gives the receiver joy is a given.

Receive and acknowledge a compliment gracefully and gladly because in not doing that you rob the giver of the joy of giving. Not only that, I am a firm believer in the law of attraction and when you decline a compliment, you send a message to the Universe that you are either not worthy of a compliment or that you don't want to receive any. And the Universe always obliges! (Something to ponder over).

And of course when the opportunity arises to sincerely return the compliment then do that too (for it is in giving that we receive).

So what are the best compliments I have received ....

Kajal's would have to be one of the most beautiful compliments I have ever received.

Thank you Kajal. You made my day.

Some years ago while we were visiting San Francisco, my kids bought me this little zipper thingy that says #1 Mom. It is one of the most priceless gifts I have ever got. Whenever my jacket is zipped up, the little zipper thingy stays close to my heart! Thank you my children. You are my strength and joy.

When my son was 3 years old, he asked me how old I was. So I asked him to guess. He looked at me for a few minutes and then very seriously he said "you are forty thousand years old". At that moment my eyes widened, my jaw dropped and the unspoken words that formed in my mind were "you cheeky brat".

But the look was so innocent so loving and serious and as he was only 3, forty thousand was a real big number that I'm sure he wouldn't have known and that was puzzling. So over the years I thought about that off and on and as my spiritual journey progressed the meaning of forty thousand took shape.

I am sure my little 3 year old was looking at me through the eyes of his soul and connecting with my soul. . And when we look at it from a soul perspective then that is truly an amazing compliment. How much more beautiful than that can you get.  Thank you my son for being the beautiful soul you are.

So what's the best compliment you've got?  Write your post and then link up at The Write Tribe and if you can weave a B into it, link it up at ABC Wednesday too.

Have a beautiful day and enjoy your weekend.

UBC Day 23 - Inspiration comes in the strangest of places

Day 23 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

There are some days when thoughts and poems just flow and then there are times when I stare at the prompt and nothing comes to mind.

For the last few days I've been thinking I have really ignored my poetry blog. But the mind would not cooperate and every poetry prompt that came my way just brought up a blank.

So last night I wished that the prompt "Mirror" would come up as I wrote a poem sometime ago that was sitting in draft waiting to be published.

So imagine my surprise when I checked the Poet's United Mid Week Motif and the prompt was "Mirror"

The Universe obliges yet again. Thank you.

Check out my Mirror poem. I wrote this poem one day while on the bus to work. Sometimes inspiration comes in the strangest of places.

Have an inspiring day.

UBC Day 22 - Sometimes The Heart Sees

Day 22 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Written for The Write Tribe
image courtesy of Victor Habbick http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

I see you in my dreams

In a cosmic dance that fuses my soul with yours eternally

In perfect symmetry and harmony

Spiralling through space and time, sometimes apart,

Yet always together and never too far

There is no greater joy

For my dreams are truly my reality

And loving you is my only destiny

Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye

UBC Day 20 - Compassion

Day 20 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Written for the Thursday Writer's Post prompt  Compassion  hosted by Darla

Oxford definition of Compassion
sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others:

Dictionary.com definition of Compassion
a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for someone struck by misfortune, accompanied by a desire to alleviate the suffering; mercy

But compassion for me is much more than that.

It is reaching out to another from that divine place in your heart that drives you to alleviate the suffering with kindness, understanding, caring and love.

It's essence lies in the soul and it is from the soul that you connect with another asking nothing in return.

True compassion goes beyond empathy and sympathy, it is not just heart centric but soul centric.

So how do you show compassion? I don't think there is any clear answer to that for each circumstance will be different. Sometimes it may be a kind word, or just a smile, or a little help, or a hug, or perhaps even fighting for some rights.  Sometimes it might just be a universal reaching out and caring.  But at all times it comes from one's heart and makes a selfless soul connection.

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete ~ Gautama Buddha

The above quote is often interpreted as compassion for oneself. I read it quite differently. Showing compassion that is not heart and soul centric (does not include yourself), is incomplete.

So how do we teach our children compassion?  That comes when we ourselves show it to them and others near and far.

Wishing you a day filled with kindness and love.

UBC Day 19 - I wonder

Day 19 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Written for the Write Tribe 100 Words on Saturday photo prompt

It was a hot day as the little boy walked around in boredom while his mother shopped.

His constant pestering irritated her and she told him he could get a new toy if he was quiet and good. And so he behaved and silently entertained himself.

The rubbish bin rattled as he passed by. Curious he walked up to it and lifted the lid gingerly. Peering out at him were 2 large eyes and a green furry head. Oscar the Grouch, he thought!

He placed his hands on the bin and claimed it as his toy! What will his mother think?

Have a fun day.

UBC Day 18 - Little Did She Know

Day 18 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Written for: Write Tribe 55 on Friday
Also linking to: Theme Thursday prompt Doubts

Little did she know what was in store.

The marketplace faded as her eyes fell on him. Memories came flooding through.

"He would've looked like him if he had lived",  she thought wistfully, foolishly wishing they could meet again.

"But I always thought I'd see you again",  sang the busker.  She looked heavenward and smiled.

Theme Thursday prompt Doubts

Whenever I have doubts, I usually look heavenward and ask the question. The universe always sends an answer if we only learn to listen.

Many questions and doubts went through my mind as the memories flashed through yesterday.

More often than not I get the answers from a song and yesterday was no different. Thank you Universe.

May today be the day you  find the answers you seek. May today be the day your doubts are resolved.

UBC Day 17 - The Little Shoe

Day 17 Ultimate Blogging Challenge

Written for The Write Tribe Wednesday (Photo) Prompt

Little Cindy watched her little shoe fall down to the rocks below. There was no way she could reach it. Slowly she walked home, sad and a little fearful. Her mother would be very cross.

At a short distance away, a young lad watched the shoe fall and the look of horror and sadness on Cindy's face. As she walked away slowly, preparing to meet her fate at home, the young lad climbed down and retrieved her shoe.

As Cindy reached her home, she saw the young lad racing up to her with her little shoe. As he handed her the little shoe he watched her eyes light up in surprise and joy. The radiant smile on her face made it all worthwhile. Then quietly he walked away.

Little did she know that someday that young lad would grow up to be a wonderful, handsome and charming young man, and that history would repeat itself in the form of a glass slipper!

Have a fairy tale day.
